Happy Chainsaw Day

DSCF4393 (640x480) (428x443)

I’m a happy chappy playing with my toys
Chopping off the branches making lots of noise
But I’m being careful as you all can see
Playing in the garden my chainsaw and me

I often play with ladders climbing to the top
I climbed up this blue ladder for the tree to lop
All the upward branches have to come down you see
Then we can pick the olives from lower growth he he

When I’ve finished cutting there’s a lot of stuff about
But its a happy chappy who is climbing out
Of branches lying on the ground where they’ve just been cut
Now I have to clear it up before I cut more stuff

When the tree is finished it will look quite bare
Till spring comes a calling and green shoots it bears
Then it should show its flowers and turn a creamy green
And then in the autumn olives should be seen

DSCF4500

Its looking pretty stumpy now but that will not last long
The birds are getting rather cross their insect boughs are gone
But soon it will start to grow again and then whoopy my friends
I can get my chainsaw out and we will start again

Footprints

Today I started on some steps
To the cacti garden up they’ll go
Stood back surveyed the three I’d built
And thought my afternoon well spent

Next morning once again I went
To build another three
And in the concrete there I spied
Little bird prints oh dear me

Just like naughty children they
Had hopped across the step
Leaving little foot prints
Everywhere they went

But I am not that bothered
They look quite nice you see
Reminders why we live here
Our fun and nature are free

So I have just rewarded them
A brand new Water Bar
Nice shallow dish to bathe in
Have I gone to far?

Oh Oh The Rain

weather file-6

Oh oh the rain is here again I ache when it’s around
Nights spent listening to its gentle fall
Or hammering pounding on roof as if from Thor
Watering plants who drink their fill
Puddles left where you walk making for new paths
Oh oh the rain.

In valleys mist shrouds all
Landscape looks like a foreign country
Scenes change as clouds drift
Rivers swell and swiftly flow past field and village
Cliffs become unstable landslides occur
Oh oh the rain

In a land where the sun always shines
Rain is welcomed a gentle cooling relief from the heat
But it continues reservoirs once empty fill
Dry rivers slowly start to fill
The dams are full some overspill
Oh oh the rain

But look around at what you see
Trees in fruit or flower be
Fields of flowers colours spread
The bees their yellow pollen bags full
As home to make their honey flew
Oh oh the rain

No ark is needed here today
Toads and frogs come out to play
Olives trees turning cream as of their oil we dream
The almond trees are bearing nuts
Rain at night sun by day this is just the perfect way
For rain oh rain to come our way

Lonely Crafty Squirrel

I have a friend called B.J.
Who shouts and chases me
He can never catch me
As I run up the tree

His wife has now joined in the game
And whenever she see me
She shouts and flaps a tea-towel
But it is not the same you see

This weekend they both ignored me
They had visitor you see
They did not want to come and play
That really was a shame

I ran along the back fence
Then I climbed the tree
I also ran along the wood that
They use for a frame

So now I sit upon the post
Looking at their door
Hoping one will see me and
Come out with a roar

Then I can scamper off
And run up my tall tree
Then we’d be back to normal
B.J, his wife and me
